Burial Plot Location and Purchase

The historic Stoney Point Cemetery is located about six miles east of Melissa, Collin County, Texas just off Farm Road 545 on FM 1095. The cemetery is the final resting place of early Collin County settlers and their descendants.

The earliest grave in the cemetery is that of W. M. Wilson's infant son who died in 1880, which predates the Stoney Point Church's acquisition of the site. In 1938 control of the burial site was transferred to the Stoney Point & Brinlee Cemetery Association, which is responsible for the cemetery's current maintenance and use.

There are three areas in the Stoney Point Cemetery: Old Area, Middle Area, and New Area. The Old Area is the original burial site. As there was demand for burial plots, the Cemetery Association purchased additional acreage in 1980.

The cemetery remains in use today. For information on locating burial plots purchased by your family, purchasing new burial plots or coordinating burials, please contact the Cemetery Association. Local Funeral Homes are familiar with the cemetery and will be happy to assist you.
