Stoney Point School
The first school in Stoney Point was called the Johnson School and was probably situated on the J. H. Johnson farm. Often the church used this school for meetings even after their own building was erected. The next school, known as the Stoney Point School, was located across the road from the General Store on what is now Farm Road 545. This is the school that William Lesley "Les" Roper taught for many years. Les was the son of Lemuel F. Roper and the nephew of Elizabeth (Roper) Price. Les became one of the leading educators of the county from the 1880's until his retirement from the Anna, Texas School system in the late 1930's.
