The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest award a Girl Scout can earn. It recognizes the hard work of Girl Scout Seniors and Ambassadors who demonstrate leadership that has lasting effects in their community.
For their Gold Project, Girl Scouts Elizabeth Brandes and Hannelore Pennington, under the supervision of Debra Brandes (Elizabeth's mother) and Lisa Stephens (Elizabeth's aunt) coordinated the transcription of the Stoney Point Cemetery in Collin County, Texas.
In addition to the cemetery transcription, photos were taken of the markers. The transcript and photos were submitted to the USGenWeb Tombstone Transcription Project, a national initiative to record our United States cemeteries before they are lost forever to the winds and the rains.
